Grammar hounds, and I include myself in this list, are those who are so obsessed with proper presentation of a language that even the slightest mistake or oversight in a sentence invokes a twitchy reaction and a move to whatever “Edit” button is available. The Internet is a bastion of poor grammar and spelling mistakes and I honestly suffer at times when I see people who have obviously a minimal concept of proper English phrasing and syntax. According to National Geographic, scientists have proven that we will now be acknowledging new grammar hounds: monkeys.
Yes, according to the study, monkeys can recognize when you are using poor grammar, meaning that the punishment for misuse of anything from a phoneme to a dangling participle may now be met with shrieks and slaps and demands for a banana as punishment. I, for one, welcome our new monkey grammar overlords.
